Career Coaching

Coaching is a solution-focused conversation, where the client can begin to access their own insights, truths, and wisdom in order to inspire action, remove obstacles and maximise their potential. Greater alignment between the individual and their work can offer a higher sense of satisfaction, engagement, and joy. Individuals report being more energised, creative, and productive. Work doesn’t feel like a chore but rather an opportunity to serve and contribute.

CareerCraft’s coaching philosophy: Coaching is a safe space from which to stretch. It creates the base to explore and deepen self-knowledge, question outdated beliefs, adjust unhelpful patterns and allow for a more authentic expression of who you are.

  • Build work engagement and motivation
  • Create a personal brand

Career Journey Workshops

Young adults are often under significant pressure to make a career choice. They see this choice as one decision that will affect their entire lives. There are more options and additional pressures than ever before and the number of students that drop out after the first year of university increases each year.

Building the skills of career decision-making is core to navigating your career journey. In this way you are more mindful of your experiences, can attune to your needs, and adjust and adapt where necessary.

CareerCraft offers one on one coaching, in-person/online group workshops as well as integrated online journeys that cover the following:

  • Knowing myself more deeply
  • Recognising where I am excited and curious
  • Acknowledging my strengths and capabilities
  • Clarifying my preferences and values
  • Learning how to apply this understanding to my career research
  • How to set the direction going forward and adjust where necessary
  • Study application support through the Bridge solution.

Buried in our hearts is a powerful knowing of how we wish to serve the world. Sometimes it just takes knowing where to look.

Career Coaching

As adults, we often reach a point in our career, where we feel stuck, undecided, frustrated, or overwhelmed. There is a longing for more, for work that gets you energised or gives you some sense of meaning and joy. But you are not too sure how to get there and often you will put off considering alternatives because you have thoughts like these: I am too old, not qualified enough, not experienced enough, not rich enough to take the risk.

Many times, we put up with the devil we know rather than the devil we don’t, we stick it out, and do the responsible thing – keep a job that pays. What if I told you that there is another option? A way to start identifying and knowing what works best for you? To have clarity around where you want to be and how to get there? I have found that the more I am able to make choices from a place of authenticity, the happier and more satisfied I am.

Coaching can be helpful in the following ways:

  • Greater self-insight and awareness
  • Know your strengths, interests, and passions
  • Manage blocks, barriers, or fear of failure
  • Find clarity in your choices
  • Feel excited and motivated by your work
  • Build a work-life balance
  • Develop a personal brand
  • Build a robust CV and LinkedIn profile
  • Manage your job search more effectively
  • Handle work-related challenges
  • Build leadership skills

Career Clarity Package:

  • 3 Coaching Sessions (Medical aid claims are possible, although not guaranteed)

These sessions are designed to support you in more deeply attuning to you. To navigate your experiences and make sense of your journey so we can plot a path forward that feels aligned and nourishing.

    • Session one – exploration
    • Session two – consolidation
    • Session three – action

  • This option is one on one, face to face, or over zoom.
  • Sessions are 90 minutes long, once a week or every second week.
  • Additional coaching sessions are available but optional.

Group facilitated career and self-development workshops take place on an ad hoc basis, if you would like to stay informed, then stay connected by signing up for our mailing list.

BrainWorking Recursive Therapy®

As part of the coaching process, I endeavour to stay up to date with innovative and impactful tools, techniques and protocols. My methodology is a mixture of science, theory, coaching tools as well as BWRT protocols.

‘BWRT®’ stands for ‘BrainWorking Recursive Therapy®’, a model of psychology and psychotherapy created by UK professional therapist, Terence Watts, MCGI. Like many other modern therapies, it allows a ‘core of privacy’ so that you do not have to divulge anything you would rather not talk about – in fact, the practitioner only needs to know how you feel and how you would prefer to feel instead.

BWRT® is a completely new and different therapy based on the latest discoveries about the way the brain works and how it affects our moods, behaviour and emotions. Only Certified Practitioners have been trained to deliver BWRT® and all have to adhere to a strict ethical code. Find out more at

This approach can support in the following ways:

  • Fear of failure
  • Issues of confidence
  • Imposter syndrome
  • Anxiety / Panic attacks
  • Work conflict
  • Trauma

  • BME has used Gillian’s assessment services extensively and we found her ability to understand company culture and job profiles, results in consistently using the most appropriate assessments. Gillian is fast, efficient and takes care to give detailed feedback on applicants or employees enabling the setting up appropriate development plans. I would recommend her services with complete confidence.

  • I was referred to Gillian at the beginning of 2014 when I was feeling completely lost and uncertain as to what direction to take with my career. I found Gillian's service to be professional, thorough and insightful. The fact that she had had similar career "crossroad" experience made me feel comfortable that she understood my situation and genuinely wanted to assist. I would recommend her services to all who seek to better understand and address their past, present and future career (and life) goals.

  • I found Gillian's help to be invaluable. She is insightful, engaging and friendly. She makes the effort to accommodate her clients and goes the extra mile to provide the kind of assistance you are looking for. I definitely recommend her!

  • Gillian personifies professionalism. She possesses an innate ability to accurately assess ones personality and interests, supported by the application of appropriate assessment instruments. Gillian provides valuable career guidance and I would definitely again make use of her overall expertise as industrial psychologist, whether personal or in professional capacity.

  • Gillian performed psychometric assessments and gave career guidance to two family members. I was very pleased with the level of professionalism as well as the outcome of the results, which in both cases were spot on. Gillian is very accommodating, open to discussions and I was very impressed when she went the extra mile to speak to industry professionals in order to give practical feedback relating to her suggestions. I fully recommend her methodology – PS was great that Discovery paid for most of this!

  • Gillian is very passionate about what she does, and it translates so clearly in her work, her professionalism and the energy she displays and puts into her efforts. I think Gillian was born to do what she does and I felt I gained a lot of value from her workshop. Gillian has managed to craft a career exploring experience that is guided, experiential, reflective, useful and practical for addressing those tough to answer career questions.

  • I had been going through what I can call my “career mid-life crisis” when my colleague forwarded me an email that was also forwarded to her by a friend. I read the ad and it resonated with what I was going through. We both decided to attend the workshop because I was interested in how exactly does a career crossroads look like. The preparation alone got me thinking that these were the right questions to ask myself about what kind work would make me happy. This workshop and the prep has helped me shift my idea of a career – I can craft my career based on the skills I have and I love using. The fact that Gillian also struggled with these questions in her career, the experience makes all that more a shared and real.

  • I met Gillian through my work, she was our Coach and Assessor for all new recruits coming into the organisation. I asked her for a consultation because I was feeling quite lost, demotivated in my work and I felt somewhere along the line life had destroyed my core, my true nature and my calling had gone into hiding. I had worked for a couple organisations prior to joining the current company and the previous organisations had managed to kill my spirit. I felt like I was in a rutt, somewhat of a midlife crisis. It was difficult to sign up for the sessions as I felt so broken and was sceptical if anything could possibly change. I felt comfortable with Gillian which made the sessions easier. Happy to say I found myself again and started being my true self at work and in my personal life. Shortly after meeting with Gillian I got a promotion started a Vlog and started doing the things I love all again and stopped acting small but really woke up to shine at work and personally. One person said to me after a Vlog: ‘I didn’t know you as that person in the video and I love the you I saw’, I also love the me she saw, I have always loved her and I missed her! Thanks Gillian

More about me

I am an Industrial Psychologist, Martha Beck Accredited Coach and a Facilitator, but more importantly a mom, wife, and an incessant explorer, always in search of more understanding, meaning, connection and contentment.

I came to my profession through a deep desire to understand why others do the things that they do, as well as make choices that either lead them to happiness or not. My own moments of career indecision and uncertainty have fostered a deep and never-ending curiosity about how people make career choices. I also seemed to find myself in work experiences that challenged me to discover how you practically go about finding more meaning and joy in your work. It is this insight from which I grew and continue to grow my practice.

As I further uncover and align with my own authentic needs, I find my career choices smoother and my satisfaction greater. Through the power of the Enneagram as well as Coaching, I have come to tap into my own intuition, foster deeper more meaningful relationships as well as find a sense of fulfilment and joy in each moment.

What I have found, is that it is not about being perfect, or always knowing what to do. But rather about continuing to actively know yourself and trust in your hearts guidance. If you do this, you can make choices that are more aligned with who you are and what will make you happy.

If you feel you would like to start the journey of knowing yourself better, tapping into your own insights and having more clarity and certainty, then make contact with us. I get immeasurable joy from seeing my clients grow into themselves and fulfil their potential.
